Barrier Hire: What you need to know

Thinking about hiring concrete barriers from us? Barrier hire can be a cost-effective solution when you need concrete blocks on a short term basis.

For starters, hiring concrete blocks instead of buying them allows you the flexibility to specify the size, type and number of blocks to suit your needs on a case by case basis.

We also deliver barriers direct to your site and collect the blocks at the end of the hire period so you won’t have to worry about having to find and pay for equipment to move them or a place to store them.

Polysafe barriers and blocks offer a wide range of blocks available for hire from our rectangular concrete barriers, concrete block walls and concrete planters to our cylindrical barriers, Heras fencing blocks and sign post bases.

Hiring barriers from us offers lots of advantages. If you are thinking about going ahead here are a few quick tips to help you get the most out of your blocks.

Measure Up

Make sure you measure up your site and have a good idea of how many blocks you need. Choose the type or types of block you want and then calculate how many you need (don’t forget to leave a bit of a gap in between if your site isn’t completely flat – which most aren’t). Concrete barriers are designed to be heavy, so if you have a plan for where you want them, we can put them in the right place for you and save you from moving them at a later date. Plus if you know exactly how many blocks you need you won’t waste money hiring spares.

When hiring blocks, it’s a good idea to check your site insurance not only for theft or damage but, if other people will be visiting your site, you may need public liability insurance in case someone claims the barriers caused them damage or inconvenience.

We can deliver blocks to site for you but please be aware that heavy blocks require a large vehicle and our delivery lorries are 40ft long. This means they need plenty of space to manoeuvre so make sure you have a nice clear space where they can deliver. We also use a crane to unload so you’ll need a spot with no overhead obstructions. If this is a problem, please let us know and we will come up with an alternative delivery solution. If you only require a few blocks, you can also come and collect them yourself as long as you have a suitable vehicle or trailer. We’ll be happy to load them up for you free of charge.
